Yes and No. Every client, every wedding and every event is unique. We always strive to create something different for all our clients. Your chemistry is individualistic to you and your families. We aim to capture YOUR precious moments!

Our shooting and editing styles remain consistent. We apply the same dedication to all our clients. This allows us to provide you with a film that is curated and tailored to your needs.

The types of deliverables can often get confusing for people who are not familiar with the wedding industry. Here are the standard set of deliverables which are included with our base package:

• Next Day Edit: A next day edit is a 4-6 minute film which is created on the day prior to the reception after the wedding is complete. We create this film using the best moments from the wedding as well as the concept shoot. Planning of this film begins as soon as you hire us, and it is shown at your reception in front of all your close friends, family and guests.
• Feature Film(s): Each of your events - wedding, reception as well as pre-wedding - will be edited individually to create a full length feature film. Each feature film is between 30 mins to 3 hours in length depending on the length of the event. A typical wedding Feature film is between 1-2 hours long and it includes getting ready shots, full wedding ceremony, bridal shoot and post wedding events. A typical reception feature film is also between 1-2 hours long and it includes entrances, performances, cake-cutting, speeches and dance floor.
• Wedding Highlights: Wedding highlights are a 4-8 minute film which is a summary of all your events and shoots into one. The focus of your wedding highlights film is the wedding and reception with some snippets from your concept shoot. We sometimes use more than 1 song to prepare the highlights. Your highlight reel can be tailored to focus on any aspect of your wedding.

In addition to above, the clients can choose to add the following deliverables at extra cost:

• Same Day Edit: A same day edit is exactly what it sounds like, it’s prepared to be showcased the night of the wedding. Usually these clients have the wedding and reception on the same day. We require at least 3 hours between the wedding and reception to create your same day edit. We are always prepared for this, we select the songs, shots, add the right footage, test the video, and explore any last minute changes before delivering it at your reception!
• Extended Wedding Highlights: These wedding highlights come at an extra cost and we make it for those couples who want additional moments from each of their events as part of their final highlights. These highlights are about 20-25 minutes in length.
• Wedding Trailer/E-Shoot Video: Some clients opt to build a wedding trailer using their E-shoot footage which they showcase on their social media platforms.
• Social Media Reels: Looking for an edited video in portrait mode for your instagram reels and Tiktok? Let us know and we will edit your highlights accordingly.

Concept shoot is an enhanced version of an engagement shoot. An engagement shoot is a video shoot, usually taken at picturesque locations with just the couple. Concept shoot gives us an opportunity to shoot the couple in their element with one another! In addition to that, we usually take our concept shoots up one notch.

We try to incorporate moments of the actual love story between the couple, their personalities and their hobbies. A typical concept shoot with Happy Soul Films will have at least 2 different locations with 2 different outfits but we are always up for more! If you wish to do something elaborate or take us on an adventure - we are here to capture it!

Here are some examples of what we have done for our clients in the past:

• Incorporated niece and nephew of the bride and the groom as part of the shoot to show younger version of couple since they met each other when they were in kindergarten
• Travelled to LA for a couple who were huge fans of exploring the west coast
• Shot inside a hockey rink for a couple who met each other in high school while playing hockey
• Did drone shoot with a Nissan 370z for a couple who are huge car fans
• Created a futuristic (flashforward) story of a couple by dressing them up as older version of themselves as part of their Same Day Edit
• Rented a horse ranch along with 2 horses - one for the bride and the groom - and did a cinematic shoot in peak winter

The possibilities are endless and we continue to expand our horizons to make concept shoots a lot fun and a great way to capture your memories together. Our goal is to create an end video that is timeless.

A typical concept shoot can last an hour or two per location and we pick at least 2 locations for each and every couple. So you should account for 3-4 hours including time and location to change your outfits as part of the shoot. If the distance between the locations is large, account for additional travel time.

Some couples decide to break down their concept shoots in 2 different days which are sometimes spread across multiple seasons in order to capture different styles of landscape.

We have adapted a very unique and a nontraditional style of wedding highlights called cinematic storytelling. It is a nonlinear editing where we combine all your precious moments from the big day and concept/engagement shoots. They are precisely assembled for your story to flow in an engaging way.

Your wedding video is your vision. Happy Soul Films does its best to bring that vision to life. Many of our clients share their ideas with us via Pinterest boards, Bollywood YouTube videos, and even other videos from cinematographers from around the world!

Not a problem. All reasonable changes requested after we have delivered the videos to you will be made without any question. Make sure to provide the time stamps in the video and the exact changes required i.e. change of background song, addition/modification of some wedding moments or update to background audio etc.

We aim to develop films in a manner that best suits your vision and briefings to us. For this, we look to gather your preferred editing style, choice of background music, and the special moments you love the most!

We recommend allowing our team of experts to choose the songs for your wedding film to ensure that there is synchronicity and harmony between your vision and the lyrics that accompany your story. However, if you do wish to provide us with some song selections, we are more than happy to consider them.

We do prefer to take the creative license in this department; rest assured our team is always in alignment with your vision and will choose the right music for your video!

The steps below will help you plan your concept shoot (i.e. e-shoot) in a way that it is super cinematic yet very special and tells the story that is unique to you. The list below might seem too much, feel free to schedule a call with us so that we can go over it.

No need to worry! In the past, we have done beautiful e-shoots with little to no preparation.

Step 1: Dates

• Figure out the months that work for you.
• Have a look at the Happy Soul Calendar using this link and let us know which dates work for you https://bit.ly/HappySoulPublicCalender
• Would you like to one (1) long e-shoot or two (2) shorter ones? If more than one (1) do you want both the e-shoots in the same season? Pick your dates accordingly.
• Pick weekdays (preferably Monday or Tuesday) as your shoot days since we are mostly occupied during weekends. Also, picking weekdays will ensure you have the least amount of crowd at the most popular locations.
• Also, pick a back-up date for your e-shoot in case our primary date is affected by weather
• Magic hours (an hour after sunrise and an hour before sunset) are the best times to shoot to get the beautiful colors of the horizon

Step 2: Explore your Story & Identify your Vision

• Do you have a specific vision for your e-shoot? If yes, let us know. If not, that is fine – we can recommend you something based on your likes and dislikes.
• Let us know if you like your e-shoot to be formal, or casual. Do you want it to be based on your story or do you want it to be super cinematic? How about both?
• We will need to explore parts of your story and your individual personalities so that we can capture them as part of the e-shoot. The goal is to shoot footage which not only looks cinematic but is also relatable to both of you.
• If you have any videos online or Bollywood songs or album songs or even photographs from Pinterest which you like, please do share them with us.

Step 3: Select your Location(s)

• Selecting the right location is very important depending on the vibe you want to create for your final product.
• Some locations are free to shoot and most of the good locations require permits. We have created an entire list of locations in GTA and categorized them with the kind of ambiance they have to offer. Reach out to us to get the detailed list.
• Once you have your dates, you will have to contact these locations to get the permit beforehand. Certain locations are not available during the busy season.
• During the winter season, you can pick indoor locations if you wish. Be creative and keep the season in mind while exploring the list above. Certain locations look better in winter & fall while some locations are applicable only for summer.
• Pick locations which relate to your story – whether it is your workplace where you met, or college you went to together or your first date or activities that you like doing together.
• Interested in destination shoot? We will accompany you to wherever you wish to do your shoot in the world. Our past couples have picked Ottawa, LA, Banff, Guatemala, Mexico and Italy as their locations for e-shoot. Do not let the list above limit your creativity.

Step 4: Select your Song

• Based on your story & vision, we need to determine the song on which we shall be preparing the e-shoot/Same Day Edit.
• If you want to pick a song just for an e-shoot video, it should be 2-3 minutes. If you want a song for the same day edit it should be 3-5 minutes and if you want to pick a song for final highlights it should be 4-6 minutes.

• We are fine with song in any language as long as you like it and we feel that it will go well with the kind of shoot you plan to have
• Tone of the song should depend on the mood and type of shoot. For example, an upbeat & romantic song goes well for e-shoot, romantic or Bollywood song goes well with wedding and fast paced song goes well for reception.

Step 5: Make-up & Outfits

• Do not underestimate the importance of picking the right outfits. The first step is feeling comfortable in front of the lens and feeling comfortable in your own skin.
• We recommend at least two (2) different outfits for our entire e-shoot. You can choose to have three (3) different outfits if you want. However, maximum one (1) outfit per location. Keep in mind, we will need to find locations to change outfits in between multiple shoots on the same day.
• If you are doing story-building, pick outfits that are classy yet do not look artificial.
• If you plan to have a cinematic shoot, think about renting a gown from Athena Dress Rental (https://www.instagram.com/athenadressrental/?hl=en)
• Think about the colors of our outfits vs. the color you have for your wedding outfits to ensure you have enough variety. Also try to coordinate colors based on location and your partner’s outfit. Solid jewel-tone outfits work better than tiny patterns or prints.
• Have back-up outfits in case of sudden change in weather.
• Make sure you have a make-up artist booked on the day of the shoot. We usually like to start the shoot early in the day. Bring a small makeup and hair kit for self-touch-ups.

Step 6: Props, Décor & Skills

• Bring props with you to the shoot that add extra value to the theme. Perhaps something that makes the shoot more cinematic like an umbrella or a dupatta. Or something from your dating life that means a lot to both of you.
• Here are a few things you could do to make your e-shoot more creative: Rent a sports car, rent a yacht, do a fun activity like riding ATVs, rent a cabin in the woods, re-create your proposal. Pretty much anything that makes your e-shoot look more unique
• Do you have any specific skills which you would like to show-off as part of the e-shoot? – Dancing, Acrobatics, Singing, Painting, anything sports related or anything else!
• Do you have access to any location or anything special through your friends and family? – This could be a condo downtown Toronto, a cottage, a boat, an ATV or even a helicopter. Dig deep and think about it.
• Feeling extra confident about acting in front of the camera? Let us know and we will give you some challenging shots to make your e-shoot more special.

Step 7: Day of the Shoot

• If this is your first time acting in front of a professional camera, you and your partner may find yourselves a little shutter-shy. So, do what you can to relax beforehand (E.g. Stretching, liquid courage, etc.)
• Best cinematography is where there is movement. You will be asked to do an action such as walking, smiling, looking in a specific direction, twirling, etc.
• Enjoy yourself because most beautiful shots may be candid moments that happen in between each shot.
• Check the weather forecast and be prepared for the worst weather.
• Bring extra Shoes, rain jackets, water, light snacks/energy bars etc.
• Bring along a human coat hanger i.e. a friend or family member who is willing to help you with your stuff during the shoot making things easier for everyone
• No matter what you do, the most important tip any cinematographer can give is to be yourselves! This is a time to celebrate you as a couple—be authentic as you share your love story

We definitely travel! We love to see different backdrops, monuments, and beaches for our couples! Wherever you are going, count us in!

We have a team of 5 cinematographers - the 3 extra cinematographers act as a backup. All of them are trained to be main shooters at the wedding.

Our standard (classic) package starts from $6400 and our average client spends about $7500 with us.

Our typical client pays us 50% deposit during onboarding and rest 50% 4 weeks prior to the wedding. Dues for any extra hours from the wedding are to be cleared prior to delivery of the final product.

Some clients prefer to break down the payment schedule into 3 payments - 25% during contract signing as deposit, 25% in a few months and the rest 50% before the wedding.

We do provide special discounts for last minute bookings, weekday weddings and non-seasonal (December - March) events.

Extra hours are $250/hr during wedding & reception and $200/hr for pre-wedding events. We won’t nickel and dime you for minor delays. We all are human beings after all and a few minutes worth of delays are reasonable.

Yes, we are. We have limited liability insurance on our business which includes personal injury and commercial general liability.

No extra fees for postponement because of COVID-19. For partial cancellation, we will adjust the price and reduce the amount from your last payment.

For complete cancellation, we keep a part of the deposit and refund the rest.

We place emphasis on planning and organization to ensure there is no miscommunication between our team and our clients. Each of our clients gets a personalized online client wedding portal where we have their schedule broken down by the hour for each of their events.

Also inside the wedding portal there are details regarding their concept shoot, the dates and the timings as per what is decided after our initial meetings.

Additionally, we maintain an internal wedding celendar to schedule our resources in an effective manner to ensure each of our clients receive top notch service. Staying organized keeps us sane and the attention to detail we provide while planning our shoots and to our clients makes them feel more in control.

The vast majority of our clients tend to be nervous about facing the camera and that is completely normal! Most of our clients have never faced a professional camera but there’s no need to stress, Happy Soul Films works to make you look good and comfortable.

No awkward posing or unflattering angles. We will direct you slightly but our job is to capture you in your natural element either by hand or drone.

This process is intended to be fun and joyful, so just do that! A picnic by the beach or a movie playing in the background or maybe a walk through the park, whatever makes you feel comfortable and at ease.

The # of hours of coverage you need is based on the events you are hiring us for and the type of ceremony you require coverage. Below is a rough estimate of the # of hours required for each of the events based on our experience:

• Hindu Wedding: 8-10 hours of coverage which typically includes getting ready at bride’s home, getting ready at groom’s home, baraat, wedding ceremony, bridal shoot and vidai.
• Sikh Wedding: 10-12 hours of coverage which typically includes getting ready at bride’s home, getting ready at groom’s home, baraat, milni, wedding ceremony, bridal shoot, vidai and post wedding events at groom’s home.
• Christian Wedding: 8-10 hours of coverage which typically includes getting ready at the bride's home, getting ready at the groom's home, wedding games (if applicable), first look shoot, wedding ceremony and post wedding shoot with the family.
• Islamic Wedding: 8-10 hours of coverage which typically includes getting ready at bride’s home, getting ready at groom’s home, baraat (if applicable), Nikkah ceremony, bridal shoot and vidai.
• Pre-Wedding Events: Minimum of 2 hours and maximum of 6 hours. This applies to almost all the pre-wedding events including but not limited to Mehndi, Sangeet, Jaggo, Maiyyan, Garba, Doli, Vatna, Gharoli, Haldi etc.
• Reception: 6-8 hours of coverage which typically includes decor shots, pre-reception shots, entrances, speeches, performances, cake cutting and dance floor
• Concept Shoot: We don’t place concrete time limits on e-shoots. Our dedication to creativity and creating world class videos requires us to not care about time but instead care about the quality of coverage. When it comes to concept shoot the quality of coverage depends on how comfortable the couple is, the amount of preparation done beforehand and the weather conditions. Since we don’t control all of them - we don't place a time limit on it.

In regards to editing, we use Adobe Premiere Pro for editing all our highlights and full feature wedding films.

We certainly use drones to capture certain images and views! We abide by the flying rules of Transport Canada while ensuring we capture the cinematic shots. You can see our drone specific films in our portfolio.

RAW footage is not the true reflection of our work and we do not provide it as part of the deliverables. Since we invest a great deal of time and effort into preparing the documentary films there shall hardly be any moment which shall be missed by us.

In addition to above, RAW footage is not from 1 camera but from 2 or 3 cameras which are rolling at your wedding and reception. If we do provide you with ALL the files, it is unlikely you shall spend the time to see all of it.

Since we are doing all the required work of going through all the footage, isolating the best moments, picking the right audio, removing false shots, making color corrections and assembling it all together - there is no need for you to have the RAW files.

Despite what we have mentioned above, if you do want the RAW footage but we can provide it to you at an additional cost. Make sure to provide us with a 1 TB hard drive so that we can transfer all the footage on it.

All of our creative coverage is done in 4k at 60 frames or 120 frames per second. However when we deliver your highlights we downgrade it to 1080p since our main camera at the events is recording 1080P to avoid overheating from continuous operation.

That being said, if you do wish your highlights or your main videos to be delivered in 4K we can surely make that happen at an additional cost!

To be completely transparent, you will hardly see any difference between 1080p videos vs. 4K unless you watch the film on screen as large as a movie theater.

All the videos shall be delivered via Cloud link which shall be valid forever. It takes us between 3 to 5 months to deliver all the videos. Same day or Next day edit is given right after the wedding.

The number of cinematographers present depends on the kind of event or shoot. Below is the breakdown:

Weddings & Receptions:

For all weddings and receptions we have at least two cinematographers present. The first cinematographer focuses on capturing the main angle using a steady camera along with high quality audio to ensure nothing is missed. This camera is rolling almost 100% of the time.

The second cinematographer focuses on creative coverage - capturing all the details and moments from various different angles since they are on a hand-held gimbal.

At times, we add a third cinematographer to larger weddings or receptions to capture an extra angle with a zoom lens. This is optional and is provided only if the client has signed up for it. Having a third cinematographer helps us be more creative when we edit the footage and makes the final documentary video more engaging. 

In addition to the two or three cinematographers, weddings and receptions have a dedicated drone operator and a dedicated live stream specialist if those services are required by the couple.

Pre-Wedding Events:

All pre-wedding activities and events tend to be covered by one cinematographer. The number of people in these activities tends to be relatively smaller than the wedding and reception, thus one cinematographer is able to capture your moments adequately.

However, if you suspect that the pre-wedding events will be larger in size and will contain several planned activities, including performances, we recommend using two cinematographers

Concept Shoots:

Concept shoots require one cinematographer. If the shoot is elaborate, we like to provide an assistant to help with the shots and gear preparation. Happy Soul Films team likes to ensure that the couple and cinematographer are well supported and comfortable.
