This passion has inspired me to use my craft and creativity to create timeless films. With a strong foundation and educational background from the Toronto Film School, I am able to use my skills and expertise to deliver the finest films. Over the years I have grown an intimate team of experienced cinematographers that are committed to capturing the moments, emotions, and every bit of magic in your story.

Hi, I’m Akash! I have always been interested in photography and filmography. Taking inspiration from my own interests and being an inherent entrepreneur, I co-founded Happy Soul Films with my partner Monal. I collaborate with all my clients from the very first consultation, understand their requirements and ensure that each film is curated to their vision. In addition to that I focus on building relationships with reputed wedding vendors, orchestrating elaborate e-shoots and providing top notch customer service.

I take a “behind-the-scenes” approach, working to perfect every logistical detail and co-ordinating with all relevant stakeholders so that you can focus on your big day!

One of the additions in our package was a concept shoot. Working with Akash, Monal and their team for our 5-day wedding was a dream!! When choosing a videographer, we went through 50+ companies and watched numerous videos of each company, before finally choosing Happy Soul. We wanted storytellers; a team that could encapsulate my husband and I in a video, and Happy Soul did not disappoint.

During our initial consultation, we mentioned that we wanted to do an engagement shoot in/around Banff, since my husband is from Calgary and that is where he proposed. Based on Akash’s excitement, we knew right away that this was going to be the perfect match for us. Monal spent 2 days with us in the mountains (and countless hours of driving) to get the perfect shots. We were blown away by the quality, care and level of detail in the video. So many of our family and friends told us that it looked like a Bollywood film and were impressed that the video matches the song we chose perfectly.

There’s no better person to film and edit your video than Monal! Film is his passion and his life. During our 2 days with him, we learned that in his free time he watches Oscar-nominated films for their cinematography and makes short films on the side for fun. He brings a lot of creativity to each scene and his calm demeanour made us feel very comfortable around him (and trust me, we needed that since it was our first time doing something like this).

During the wedding, they were on time, professional and guided us to get the perfect shots at our gorgeous venue (the Aga Khan Museum).

Our photographer lost half of our wedding photos and my husband and I were extremely sad + disappointed. We had spent so much time planning every little detail, and we lost our only extended family photos. We didn’t like talking about our wedding anymore. I messaged the team at Happy Soul in a panic. They expedited our wedding videos so that we could enjoy our memories AND they had shots from our family photos, etc. that we can screenshot and share.

Our Story about

Films & Wedding Industry

Our friendship started back in highschool in 2002 and despite having different educational streams, we remained good friends. In 2012, we were both working in our respective fields when Monal decided to pursue his interest in digital photography and cinematography. Monal started sharing his work and talent on various platforms like YouTube and Snapchat.

Around the same time, I was busy working as an engineer but I was and still am an inherent entrepreneur. My love for photography was always apparent and I often pursued it in my travels. I wondered if there was a way to explore the world of cinematography even more . As fate would have it, I came across a Snapchat from Monal and let’s just say I was absolutely speechless, his work was impressive!

And so began a partnership between myself and Monal, we combined our skills, talents, and interests to create Happy Soul Films. A partnership rooted in our true passions and creativity. Creating Happy Soul Films has been quite the journey for us, we’ve seen it all. From landing our first client from last minute preparations to final edits, from being “the new kids on the block” to establishing our name in the videography industry, we’ve continued to embrace our journey as creative entrepreneurs and storytellers.

Our beliefs are simple, we believe that videography is all about storytelling, we believe that storytelling is all about emotions and connections. We believe in preserving the precious moments of life for years, we believe in celebrating and embracing not just the perfect moments, but the real moments life has for us. We believe in telling your story, just how you imagined it.
