Happy Soul Films is a studio in Brampton, Ontario, near Toronto, that has filmed South Asian weddings since 2016. We travel to New York and New Jersey for weddings and engagement shoots, including Edison, Iselin, Jersey City and Parsippany.

Weddings in New York and New Jersey

From Oak Tree Road in Edison and Iselin to the Jersey City waterfront and the hotels around Parsippany, the New York–New Jersey area has one of the largest South Asian wedding scenes in North America. Weekends here often run three or four events back to back, so planning matters as much as cameras.

We plan coverage around your traditions:

• Sikh weddings: the jaggo and maiyan, the milni, the Anand Karaj and the four laavan, filmed with the discretion a gurdwara asks of us.
• Hindu and Gujarati weddings: haldi, pithi, garba and sangeet, the baraat, varmala and pheras, with dedicated audio so every vow is heard.
• Muslim weddings: mehndi, baraat, nikaah, rukhsati and walima, filmed respectfully and planned around each family's preferences.
• Tamil, Telugu, Malayali and other South Indian weddings, and fusion weddings where two cultures share one story.

Engagement shoots in New York–New Jersey

Manhattan skyline views from the Jersey City and Hoboken waterfront, Central Park, and the parks of northern New Jersey all suit an engagement shoot. Some New York City parks and streets need a film permit for professional crews, which we check for your exact spots.

An e-shoot can be a stand-alone session or added to your wedding weekend while we're in town. It's also a good way to get to know us before the big day. See how engagement shoots work.

How a New York–New Jersey wedding works with us

• Consultation over Zoom, in Eastern time, the same time zone as Toronto.
• Your client portal holds the itinerary, timings, addresses and vendor contacts.
• A planning call with your planner, decorator or DJ, so entrances and speeches are mapped in advance.
• Travel. It's about a 90-minute flight from Toronto, and driving is possible for longer weekends. We arrive before the first event to walk the venues and check the light.

Films and photographs from one team

Depending on your collection, you'll receive a documentary film for each event, a five-to-ten-minute cinematic or storytelling highlight film, photography, and optional same-day edits, next-day edits and concept films.

Collections and travel

Our collections are priced in Canadian dollars. Every collection includes 15 hours of wedding and reception coverage, professional sound, production lighting and 4K capture. For weddings in the United States, we coordinate travel with you, and travel is quoted separately. Compare what's included in each collection.
